Altan is a master archer that Lone Wolf encounters in The Kingdoms of Terror during an archery contest, the prize of which is the Silver Bow of Duadon. He wields a longbow of orange toa wood.
Combat Stats[]
Since this an archery contest, the "battle" against Altan isn't a fight to the death or even truly against each other. The battle is conducted as normal, but both Lone Wolf and Altan are shooting targets, and there is no loss of EP. For the duration of this contest, Lone Wolf's Endurance points are replaced with 50 Target points, same as Altan. Lastly, during this contest, Lone Wolf has an effectively infinite supply of arrows.
Somewhat surprisingly, the text does not stop Lone Wolf from using psychic attacks in the contest, even though it could be viewed as unsporting.
- Combat Skill: 28
- Endurance (Target points): 50
Legends of Lone Wolf[]
In the Legends of Lone Wolf novelizations, Lone Wolf encounters Altan in The Lorestone of Varetta. Altan claimed to be from Magadorian town of Karkaste, and have two children. He also claimed to have recently been robbed, and so needful of winning. Lone Wolf, who had been competing without using his Magnakai abilities for advantage, took pity on Altan and tried to miss the bull's eye with his last arrow. However, as he was aiming, someone coughed behind him and distracted him. This caused him to accidentally hit the target instead and win the tournament.
Lone Wolf's travelling companion Cyrilus later reveals that Altan is a regular at archery contests. Altan usually wins by superior skill, but when he encounters a difficult opponent he is not above attempting to distract them. Cyrilus also said that Altan had lied about his children: he undoubtedly has children, but they are all born out of wedlock, as his real wife had deserted him when she found out about his extramarital affairs.
