The Free State of Caron is a small Drodarin state in Northern Magnamund. It is a largely peaceful nation, concerned with its own matters.
History[]
Caron was founded between the countryside Ogron and the other Drodarin races, human, Giants and Dwarves. The Great Plague decimated Caron, with only the Ogron and humans surviving. The people of Caron are descended from these original settlers, and are fiercely protective of the land: The Ogron of Caron rarely leave it, out of respect for their ancestors, and believing their spirits are tied to the land; and the humans of Caron, blessed with durability thanks to their Drodarin ancestry, also protect it with honour.[2]
Geography[]
Caron is a nation on the south of Northern Magnamund, on the Tentarias. It is bordered by Palmyrion to the west, Slovia and Lourden to the west, and their enemies Ruel to the north.
The Skardos Mountains to the north contain many secret tunnels that the Cenerese use to access Caron.[3]
Politics[]
Caron is a Free State.
Known rulers of Caron[]
Economy[]
Caron is a poor state, with limited resources, and largely helpless against the Cenerese from trespassing their lands.[4]
Demographics[]
In MS 5050, Caron's population was 6,000.[1] In MS 5000, it was 50,000, of which 6,000 were Ogron.[2]
In the gamebooks[]
It is possible that Caron is visited in The Plague Lords of Ruel, particularly if the player heads south from Stonewatch in Palmyrion at the start.[5] However, the map does not demarcate the exact border between Caron and Ruel. Caron is mentioned in passing a few times in this book, within the context of the Cenerese.[4][6]
Grand Master encounters Caronese crystals in Dwala, where they are described as "stunning".[7]
