The Free State of Chaman is a small Kloon state in Northern Magnamund. It is the home of the Kloon Sages. Its capital is Gleesh.
History[]
Chaman is one of only two nations (the other being Bor) to have over 10,000 survivors of the Drodarin race. It is a place of knowledge and scholarship, particularly the Kloon Sages, and houses the Great Library of Gleesh.[2]
Chaman survived the worst of the Great Plague due to its location, in the far south of Northern Magnamund. The Herbalish, who cured the Great Plague, gave some curative knowledge to the Kloon, who created the Great Library (also called the Lycarus) as a monument to wisdom and learning.[2]
Although the Kloon hold most of the political power in Chaman, there is a sizeable human population, working as labourers in the mines and lumber yards. However, as one Kloon can do the job of four humans, this led to jealousy in the past, so the Kloon tend to stay distant from their human neighbours.[2]
Geography[]
Caron is a small nation on the south of Northern Magnamund, on the Tentarias. It is bordered by Bautar to the east, Lourden to the north, and Caron to the west. Rezovia lies opposite Chaman on the Tentarias.
Gleesh is a port on the Tentarias, and known for its wealth.[2]
Politics[]
Chaman is a Free State.
Known rulers of Caron[]
- Arch-Chief Borghanaphon (MS 5050)[2]
Economy[]
Chaman is a relatively-rich country, with the port of Gleesh one of the great ports of the Tentarias.[1] Much of the nation's wealth comes from the mines and lumber yards, run by humans.[2]
Demographics[]
In MS 5050, Chaman's population was 11,000.[1] In MS 5000, it was 30,000, of which 11,000 were Kloon; the MS 5050 population may have excluded the humans.[2]
In the gamebooks[]
Chaman is not visited in the gamebooks. However, the Kloon Sages make occasional appearances in the text or in-person.[3]
