The Zultanate of Cloeasia, formerly known as The Great Cloeasia, is a small but wealthy nation of the Lastlands bordering the Kuri Sea. It was once formed by exiles of Vassagonia, becoming a vast country in its own right, but has lost most of is territory over the years. Its capital is the port city of Kadan.
History[]
Before it was known as a Zultanate, Cloeasia was formed in 2750 MS, inhabited by the Elder Magi and the Drodarin. At its height, it incorporated lands presently part of Southern Sommerlund, the Wildlands, the Maakenmire, Casiorn, Western Vassagonia and Anari. By MS 5077, Vassagonia was one fifth of its original size. The Elder Magi were wiped out during the Great Plague, and The Great Cloeasia became a wilderness.[4]
Over time, exiled nomads from Vassagonia and Durenor began to settle once again in Cloeasia, and their tent cities became permanent settlements. This became known as the Zultanate of Cloeasia, founded in MS 2950 by Haffan the Black Cowl.[4][3] Around this time, Zultan Grazhali — dubbed The Unifier of Cloeasia in Vassagonian — established a benign dictatorship in the city of Kadan, the largest of all the Cloeasian tented settlements.[5]
The Zultanate suffered many setbacks its early decades. In MS 3055, the Maakengorge was formed, causing Cloeasia great damage. In MS 3074, an outpost on the edges of Cloeasia, Casiorn, became independent. Decades later, the creatures of the Maakenmire invaded Northern Cloeasia, preying on the survivors, and turning the region into ruins. Nevertheless, the Zultanate survived around Kadan, and it formed close ties with Sommmerlund and later the Freelands Alliance. The Freelands helped defend Cloeasia from multiple invasions by Vassagonia, seeking its wealth.[4]
During the Darklands War, Vassagonia invaded in MS 5061, after Zakhan Kimah allied Vassagonia with the Darklords. At the Battle of Tahou, Lone Wolf slew Kimah, and the Vassagonians retreated from Cloeasia. The Zultan attempted to rebuild his country, but Cloeasia had long-relied on expensive Vassagonian mercenaries. One of these companies, the Talons of Rashuur, known for their loyalty and brutality, were signed to a 600-year contract to protect Cloeasia. The Talons had been unable to resist Kimah's invasion, but after the Battle of Tahou, they had become corrupted by cursed money distributed from the mints of Casiorn, by Darklord Xog. The Talons turned on Cloeasia, opening the gates of Kadan and allowing Xog's forces to take over in MS 5066. In MS 5070, Xog's occupation was ended after Lone Wolf destroyed the Transfusor, causing Xog's Tanoz-tukor to stop working, meaning he could no longer survive for long outside of the Darklands.[4]
Cloeasia began to rebuild after these invasions, but progress was slow, and hindered by the Lakuri Pirates, led by Captain Khadro. In MS 5077, Lone Wolf, Mazrah, and his men, invaded the Lakuri Isles, seeking to rescue Lord Rimoah and to end Khadro's reign of terror. Lone Wolf and Mazrah's forces were successful, also destroying the Skull of Agarash that was giving Khadro power.[4] Further helping Cloeasia was the ascension of Jaraza to Zakhan of Vassagonia in MS 5095. Jaraza, an ally of the Freelands, renounced all Vassagonian claims to Cloeasia in perpetuity.[6]
In MS 5102, the Maakengorge expanded once again, disrupting trade between Sommerlund, Durenor and Cloeasia.[7]
Geography[]
Cloeasia is located on the eastern coast of Northern Magnamund. The Wildlands and Durenor lie to the north, the Maakenmire to the west, and Casiorn and Vassagonia to the south. The mountain ranges to the south help protect against invasions by Vassagonia to some extent.

In the Lone Wolf Club Newsletter #13, Cloeasia was misspelt as "Cloesia".[8] It is also a common misspelling by fans.
Notes[]
- ↑ Grazhali is never stated to be a ruler of Cloeasia. However, he holds the same title (Zultan), and was dubbed "The Unifier of Cloeasia".
