Lone Wolf

Dejadar was a province of the Darklands, located in what is now Sommerlund. It was conquered by the Sommlending upon their arrival after the Great Voyage.

History[]

In MS 3100, the Darklands and their Drakkarim allies were in the ascendancy. They conquered vast swathes of land in central Northern Magnamund. Between MS 3100 and MS 3400, the Darklands looked eastwards, exterminating the Nebora and destroying the Dwarven settlements in the Durncrag Mountains. The Darklands then entered the land beyond, establishing a stronghold in Dejgazad. In MS 3433, the leader of the Darklands, Archlord Vashna, arrived in Dejgazad and proclaimed the surrounding lands to be called Dejadar, the latest province of the Darklands. Using his power to create Darkspawn, he summoned Crypt Spawn to corrupt the land. Vashna intended for a second chasm, parallel to the Maakengorge, to rip through the land, allowing the Nengud-kor-Adez to flow through, which would turn it into a barren wasteland and a true extension of the Darklands.

In MS 3434, the Sommlending arrived in Anskaven after the Great Voyage, and inflicted the first defeat in over 400 years on the Darklands with a victory against Giaks and Doomwolves nearby. Warlord Zangar, commander of Dejadar, decided to send his elite troops to meet them, but was humbled in the Lagan Marshes by the superior Sommlending. Vashna attempted to cover their retreat by summoning Crypt Spawn, but the Sommlending bravely stood their ground, and their magicians, who later formed the basis of the Brotherhood of the Crystal Star, conjured up electrical storms, burning the Crypt Spawn to ashes.

Dejgazad was caught in a pincer movement as King Kian sent warriors with latent Kai powers, who would later form the basis of the Order of the Kai, to sail upriver and attack the Drakkarim. Zangar confronted Kian in one-on-one combat, but Zangar was no match for the Sommerswerd. His men fared no better, with the Drakkarim routed, and Vashna's Nadziranim overwhelmed by sheer numbers of Sommlending magicians, despite the Nadziranims' magical superiority. The forces of Darkness were drive back across the Durncrag Mountains, and Dejgazad was destroyed.

After the defeat of Vashna, the Sommlending began to settle the land, taking over Dejadar, calling it Sommerlund. Holmgard, its capital, was founded just east of Dejgazad.[1]

Geography[]

Dejadar's true boundaries are unknown. It is known that Dejgazad, located just west of present-day Holmgard, was part of it. The forces of Darkness had conquered all of the land as far as Anskaven, and Warlord Zangar, commander of Dejadar, sent troops to meet them after their defeat in Anskaven, suggesting that it was under his jurisdiction.

With Vashna summoning Crypt Spawn to corrupt the land and kill all living creatures, it is possible that Dejadar was relatively-barren in comparison to the rest of the land. However, Dejadar lasted only about a year, so it is unclear how much damage could have been done. Dejgazad, however, was located close to the Graveyard of the Ancients, even in present-day Sommerlund, retains an eerie sense of decay, although by magic far older then the Darklords, by the Shianti.[2]

Politics[]

Dejadar had a commander, Warlord Zangar, although Archlord Vashna was the overall ruler, as Archlord of the Darklands.
