Gournen is a city-fortress within the Darklands, located in the realm of Ghargon. It was ruled by Darklord Tomogh. It is located to the west of the Darklands, surrounding Lake Ghargon.
History[]
In Gournen, nearby Lake Ghargon was the home of the Shog'aash, which Darklord Tomogh was preoccupied with hunting. Most of the population of the is concentrated in Gournen.[1]
After the fall of the Darklords in MS 5070, Gournen and other major Darklord city-fortresses fell into civil war. In the summer of MS 5102, however, these skirmishes halted, and instead began preparing for war.[2]
Design[]
In the first edition of The Darklands, Gournen was both a city-fortress as well as a domain, ruled by Darklord Tomogh in its entirety.[3] It was retconned to only be a city-fortress, part of Ghargon, in the second edition.[1]
