Capital status[]
It is unclear whether the capital of Lencia is Helmstorm or Vadera.
In The Magnamund Companion, Helmstorm is stated to be the capital,[1] as well as it being strongly implied in the prologue's timeline in The Dusk of Eternal Night.[2] It is also stated as the capital in a less canonical source, Lone Wolf: The Roleplaying Game.[3] In the prologue's timeline of The Storms of Chai, it is simply mentioned as a place name.[4]
In The Deathlord of Ixia, Vadera is stated to be the "principal city of Lencia", and the location of the royal court of Lencia.[5] In a less-canonical source, The Magnamund Sourcebook, it is stated to be the "capital of Lencia", and does not mention Helmstorm at all.[6]
The Internet Edition of The Magnamund Companion (published in 2015) notes this conflict, and in the errata, suggests that Vadera could simply be the royal seat. The assertiveness of Helmstorm's mention in The Dusk of Eternal Night's prologue (published in 2020) could be an attempt to clarify this.[7]
