Kai Grand Master Superior or Kai Grand Mistress Superior^[Inf.] is the third Kai Grand Master rank, and the twenty-first Kai rank overall, after Kai Grand Master Senior.

Training

Kai Grand Master Superiors reaching this rank have mastered two Grand Master Disciplines, and New Order Kai Grand Master Superiors have mastered five. In both cases, they have also mastered all the Magnakai and Kai Disciplines.

Improved Grand Master Disciplines

New Order Kai Grand Master Superiors have improved Grand Master Disciplines over their original, initial mastery of them:

Animal Mastery

Kai Grand Master Superiors are able to deter predatory animals in the wild by exuding a scent which is repellent to them. In order for this improved Discipline to work effectively, a Kai Grand Master Superior must be aware of the species of predatory animal they wish to deter. Only the targeted animal will detect the scent.

Assimilance

Kai Grand Master Superiors are able to create and project a noise, akin to the rumbling sound of thunder, up to 15 yards away, to distract or divert an enemy's attention. This improved Discipline requires a degree of preparation and therefore it cannot be used during combat.

Astrology

Kai Grand Master Superiors are skilled in the use of all mechanical devices designed to measure and/or observe the cosmology of Magnamund. Such devices include sextants, astrolabes, and orreries.

Herbmastery

Kai Grand Master Superiors are able to purify up to two pints of contaminated or briny water per day, making it suitable for consumption. This daily total steadily increases as a Grand Master advances in rank.

Elementalism

Kai Grand Master Superiors are able to condense pure water out of the surrounding air, as a fine spray or as a sudden deluge, or to fill any suitable container or receptacle. Using this skill, Grand Master Superiors can create the equivalent of one large bucketful of fresh water.

Bardsmanship

Kai Grand Master Superiors are able to utilize their musical skills to pacify an excited or hostile animal.

It is unknown what improvements non-New Order Kai Grand Master Superiors had, as no gamebook outside of the New Order series is played at this level.

In the New Order series, completing one gamebook promotes the reader to Kai Grand Master Superior. The earliest this can be played as, and canonically for Grand Master, is The Buccaneers of Shadaki.
