The King's Highway is a major highway in Sommerlund, joining the cities of Toran and Holmgard.

Description

The King's Highway is a 140 mile highway that runs from north to south, joining the major cities of Toran and Holmgard. It is one of the most important highways in all of Sommerlund. It intersects the Fryelund Forest, separating them into the Western and Eastern Fryelund Forests respectively.

Beginning from Toran in the north, the Highway reaches Meadowood, Oak Hill and Searsby, before crossing the River Unoram at Alema Bridge, and reaching Holmgard in the south.

Bandit gangs roam the King's Highway near Meadowood.

The King's Highway is occasionally traversed in passing throughout the gamebooks. It is most notably used in Flight from the Dark, as the player, as Lone Wolf, journeys from the Kai Monastery to Holmgard, and inevitably crosses the King's Highway at some point. Notably, Prince Pelathar dies during the Battle of Alema Bridge, which the player may witness.

The Highway is briefly traversed in Terror of the Darklords, Adventures of the Kai, and Book of Kai Legends.
