Marshal Luthos Vorgada, dubbed the Doomslayer, was the ruler of Magador and follower of Archlord Vashna, who had gained the favour of Vashna's spirit. As a Marshal of Magador, he assassinated President Kadharian and took Magador as his own. Under his rule, Magador became an ally of the former forces of the Darklords, and was a key figure in the eventual revival of Archlord Vashna. However, this came at the cost of his own life, as he was cast into the Maakengorge by Steel Hand.
Appearance[]
Vorgada is a tall man with long black hair and a stern face.[1]
Biography[]
During the Darklands War, Magador was a puppet nation of the Darklands,[2] but after the destruction of the Darklords, President Kadharian aligned Magador towards the Freelands.[3] However, in MS 5095, President Kadharian was assassinated, and Vorgada, a senior military officer of Magador, seized power.[4] Under Vorgada, Magador pivoted back towards the forces of Evil, occasionally becoming allies with the Drakkarim.[5] In secret, Vorgada had become a fully-fledged follower of Archlord Vashna, and had gained the favour of Vashna's spirit.[1][6][note 1] Vorgada was also served by Quazandra and Teakkro, members of the Heldajdok-taagim.[1]
At some point after this, Vorgada was tasked with finding an heir of King Ulnar I. This was to provide a sacrifice, using the Dagger of Vashna, to revive Archlord Vashna.[1] If an heir could not be found, however, the Cult of Vashna formed an alternative plan: To bring the Chaos-master to Magnamund instead. The Chaos-master was one who could find the Dagger of Vashna, which was lost in a Shadow Gate, and unable to be found in the Plane of Darkness. However, this plan led to disquiet amongst those who were most devoted to Vashna.[7] By coincidence, in MS 5102 (during the events of Dead in the Deep), Steel Hand was captured while trying to uncover the plans of the Cult of Vashna, and Teakkro, who had spent years spying in Holmgard, had discovered that Steel Hand was one such heir. Prophet Umbranis, in delight, declared that the alternative plan would not go ahead. He further declared Vorgada was indeed favoured by Vashna, and that Vorgada would endure the bargain of the Chaos-master, to do whatever he requested in exchange for the Dagger of Vashna.[1]
Depending on the actions of the player:
- If Grand Master finds the Chaos-master before Vorgada arrives, Grand Master will defeat the Chaos-master, but Vorgada will be given the Dagger of Vashna as the Chaos-master's last act.
- If Grand Master meets the Chaos-master at the same time as Vorgada, Vorgada will ask for the Dagger of Vashna, and the Chaos-master will ask for nothing in return. However, the Chaos-master knew of their plan, and that he was not needed any more, so instead gave the Dagger of Vashna to Grand Master. However, Teakkro later stole the Dagger from Grand Master, and handed it to Vorgada.
Either way, Grand Master also destroyed the power crystals protecting the Shadow Gate from the Nengud-kor-Adez, flooding the chamber and destroying the Chaos-master. Vorgada escaped the chaos, and fled to the surface of Zekgazad, with Vashna's wrath causing the Nengud-kor-Adez to rise. Here, he waited for Grand Master and Steel Hand to escape Zekgazad, and captured them both using the psychic powers of Tahrdemons.[8] With the Dagger of Vashna, he then attempted to kill Steel Hand above the Maakengorge. Steel Hand fought valiantly, but Vashna's spirit gave Vorgada the strength to overcome Steel Hand, who drove the Dagger into Steel Hand's chest. However, Grand Master had given their Nyxator Mail to Steel Hand, unprotected and weakened from his ordeal, and this Nyxator Mail blocked the power of the Darklord weapon. Steel Hand took advantage of Vorgada's shock to throw him and the Dagger of Vashna into the Nengud-kor-Adez.[9] This destroyed Vorgada and the Dagger, but since a part of Vashna's spirit resided inside the Dagger, this allowed Vashna to be reborn.[10]
Despite Vorgada's death, it was reported that he had returned from the Maakengorge, and avoided an assassination by the Kai in Lyris.[11] The Kai believed that this "Vorgada" was actually a Helghast, who had started to make a comeback in Magnamund with the return of Vashna.[12]
Notes[]
- ↑ Vorgada may have made a bargain with Vashna, for he appears to be senior to the Heldajdok-taagim, and holds sway over the Council of Vashna's senior figures.
