Luurvad, dubbed The Province of Long Sleep, is a Darklands realm to the west. Luurvad is possibly the most violent province in the Darklands due to its location: Constantly raided by Hourdast in the north, the beasts of Tadatigaza to the west, and the unforgiving wasteland of Naogizaga to the west.
Geography[]
Luurvad's location is extremely dangerous. To the north lies the Cursed Forest of Hourdast, which slowly sapped the consciousness of any being within ten miles, eventually luring them into an eternal slumber. To the west lay the Tadatizaga, a wasteland populated with ferocious beasts. To the east lay the dangerous wastelands of Naogizaga.[1] To top this off, Hourdast regularly raided Luurvad, to keep its own forces in fighting shape.[2]
The land of Luurvad is barren, with meagre resources. One fortress is maintained, the ruins of Luurta, as close north to the Cursed Forest as possible. It was once an ancient keep that was reduced to a ruin of broken stone.[1]
Politics[]
Luurvad is ruled by the Drakkarim, as the land is unwanted by the Darklords, due to the Cursed Forest. It is an unusual amount of control granted by the Darklords, nevertheless.[1]
During the time of Archlord Zagarna, Luurvad was ruled by Keiga Shintar, one of the three great leaders of the Drakkarim. Unusually, she was a woman amongst the male-dominated race of the Drakkarim, having risen through pure will and skill. She fought to maintain her rank, with great zeal and strength. She avoided using slaves, seeing them as inefficient; this made her people highly self-sufficient.[1]
History[]
Not much is known about Luurvad. However, it is possible that after the fall of the Darklords in MS 5070, Luurvad, as not ruled by a Darklord, would have become more powerful.
