Marked For Death is the first gamebook in the 2024 trilogy The Huntress, by Jonathan Stark. It is set in MS 5000, fifty years before the events of Flight from the Dark. It features a protagonist called The Huntress, whose true name is unknown even to her; in Marked for Death, she attempts to retrieve a lost relic for the last of the noble Haert family, who promises to tell The Huntress her true identity.
Gameplay[]
Marked For Death is the first gamebook in Lone Wolf media with multiple "good" endings that can impact future books in the series, like Steve Jackson's The Seven Serpents as part of the Sorcery! series. It is set in Toran, and features the series-titular The Huntress, who possesses abilities based around combat and hunting.[1]
Plot[]
Eight years ago, in MS 4992, you stumbled out of the Vassagonia Dry Main, your surcoat torn and covered in blood. You bore no memory of how you came to be in the desert, or who gave you your wounds. You soon became a mercenary and bounty hunter and though you have never stopped searching for your true name, a new one has been given to you by your clients. They call you the Huntress.
Now, in MARKED FOR DEATH, the first book in The Huntress Trilogy, you come to the magical city of Toran, where the last of the noble Haert family has promised to tell you who you are in exchange for finding a lost relic of their house. Your hunt will take you on a mad chase through the city and a race for the truth — for you are not the only one after the Haert's secrets.[1]
