Northern Skaror, dubbed The Province of Entropy, is a Darklands realm. It is a dangerous province, where even the soldiers of Darklord Chlanzor, its former ruler, endured danger. It is a remote domain, and its largest settlement is Gazad Helkona.
Geography[]
Northern Skaror was a remote realm between the mountain ranges of Kokorzritzaga and Kagazitzaga. It suffered from violent dust storms, covering the ground in sulphurous dust,[1][2] and violent tremors, caused by the volcanic activity of the Kokorzritzaga Mountains, capable of tearing open the land with molten lava.[3]
The Helkona Forest was a rotting forest, reeking of sulphurous decay.[4] It had been destroyed by the poison of the Darklands, but was inhabited by hosts of giant insects and spiders, dangerous enough to kill Giak and Drakkarim soldiers. The only notable settlement within Fethmyre is Gazad Helkona, which had a domed observatory emitting a pulse of crimson light to guide Kraan. The remoteness and the dangers of the domain meant that for the Drakkarim, serving Gazad Helkona was a death sentence.[5]
Politics[]
During the time of Archlord Zagarna, Northern Skaror was ruled by Darklord Chlanzor. The remoteness of his realm meant that he rarely took part in the political squabbling of his fellow Darklords, although this was to his liking. He once summoned a Greater Demon, Fidazkh, almost as powerful as himself, although none within the Darklords knew what his true plans were.[6]
History[]
Darklord Chlanzor became Lord of Northern Skaror some time before the time of Archlord Zagarna.[5] His reign ended after he was destroyed in MS 5070 after Lone Wolf destroyed the Transfusor.
In MS 5083, during the events of Trail of the Wolf, Grand Master entered Northern Skaror through the southern Helkona forest to infiltrate Gazad Helkona, where Lone Wolf had been captured by Zorkaan the Soultaker.
In the gamebooks[]
In Trail of the Wolf, Lone Wolf is captured and taken to Gazad Helkona. Grand Master infiltrated Fethmyre and Gazad Helkona to rescue him, a quest in which they were successful in.
The Helkona forest is one of the rare occasions where Grand Huntmastery cannot be used to replace a Meal, as the petrified forest contains no edible flora nor fauna.[7]
Design[]
Prior to the second edition of The Darklands, Northern Skaror was instead called Fethmyre.[8] Both domains have similar characteristics, although Fethmyre is slightly more dangerous, as it is described as a bastion of pure decay.[5]
