Canonicity[]
Since a gamebook, by definition, allows a player to choose different actions, it is not always easy to decide which events are canon. For example:
- It is possible for Lone Wolf to lose the Sommerswerd in The Kingdoms of Terror[1] and Castle Death,[2] but the New Order series of books implies he still has the Sommerswerd long after.
- In The Curse of Naar, Lone Wolf encounters the spirits of Paido, Adamas and Sebb Jarel trapped in Avarvae's domain.[3] However, depending on the actions of the player, it is possible for Lone Wolf to have never encountered Sebb Jarel. This section therefore implies that in canon, Lone Wolf did meet Sebb Jarel.
Some of these may be the result of an oversight by the authors. However, the fanbase assumes there is a rough canon path that the player characters follow, successfully completing their quests in a roughly-optimal fashion.
