Rhola Rhada is a Talestrian mapmaker, based in Tharro. She is an attractive woman with long, jet-black hair.[1]
Appearences[]
In the gamebooks, Rhola Rhada only appears in The Jungle of Horrors. Lone Wolf can meet Rhola Rhada only if he takes the barge route to Tharro. If Lone Wolf visits her shop, she displays an obvious passion for her work. Her maps are highly accurate and have excellent attention to detail.
Rhola Rhada once attempted to map the Danarg with her father, but that expedition met a grim end when they were attacked by a monster. Her father was devoured, and while Rhola Rhada escaped, she was badly burned by the monster's caustic saliva. All their maps and equipment were lost.[2]
It is unclear what happened to Rhola Rhada afterwards, but since Talestria was conquered by Ogia shortly after Lone Wolf's visit, it is possible she perished.
Legends of Lone Wolf[]
In the Legends of Lone Wolf series, Rhola Rhada takes on a very different role. She is an avatar of the God of Ohrido, itself a God created by the Elder Magi when they built the Temple of Ohrido. The God initially wanted to escape from the Temple, but grew to enjoy it. However, Naar eventually took note and attempted to destroy the God of Ohrido. This led to the Danarg swamp surrounding the temple. The God of Ohrido called for help, eventually getting it from Alyss. They have been fighting against Naar together ever since.
Eventually the God of Ohrido learned of Lone Wolf and his quest to acquire the Lorestone of Ohrido. He sent an avatar out to help Lone Wolf attain his goal, since that will also aid in his own survival. That avatar is Rhola Rhada. The God of Ohrido used his magic to ensure they would meet, and that Rhola Rhada would guide Lone Wolf and his companion Paido to the Temple of Ohrido.
In the expedition to the Danarg, Rhola Rhada turns out to be a highly capable warrior, on par with Lone Wolf and Paido. She is however prone to mood swings. After the completion of the quest, she leaves the Temple of Ohrido with Lone Wolf.[3]
