Zaaryxa is a Nyxator Mail created by Lone Wolf from the hide of Nyxator and given to New Order Kai Grand Masters at the start of the events of Dead in the Deep. Zaaryxa provides a +4 bonus to Combat Skill and +10 to Endurance to its wearer, and is light enough to be worn underneath clothing and other pieces of armour. Additionally, Zaaryxa provides additional protection against the power of Death.
Zaaryxa may be named after Zaaryx, an ancient city during the Age of the Dragons.
Gameplay rules[]
Zaaryxa has limited use in Dead in the Deep and The Dusk of Eternal Night. In the latter case, it is mostly useful mostly if Grand Master chooses to investigate Shasarak's old lair. However, it faces competition with Crocaryxa, which can help avoid a very tricky Jahksa fight, and makes the combat against Hakaba easier.
Zaaryxa finds uses against the Drakkarim Death Knights, whose attacks are imbued with the power of death. However, these encounters can be avoided in both Dead in the Deep and The Dusk of Eternal Night.
Zaaryxa and Cynxa can help avoid one extremely nasty fight in The Dusk of Eternal Night against the Reborn Krakalla Flying Fortress (and Naarvakim crew) (Combat Skill 58, Endurance 90, with a myriad of restrictions and a 20% chance of death each round unless you went through a specific path against Sesketera in the first arc).[1] However, Cynxa is arguably much superior in this case, as it sees significantly more use. Moreover, this fight can be avoided if you take the correct paths beforehand.
